Winter wedding in the Hawkesbury

Windsor + winter + gorgeous old church + stunningly in-love couple + epic blue dress = MAGIC! Steven and Kerry Ann were married at St Matthews Anglican Church in Windsor, New South Wales, on the most beautiful mid-winter afternoon, surrounded by their beloved friends and family (well, most of them, at least - cheers Covid19 for those surprise border closures!), and with their gorgeous children by their side. Their love story is truly one of fairytales, filled with young love, intrigue, years spent apart, and finally a fall into love and commitment so deep, and so pure, that it required a

Treasure grandparents and their legacy with beautiful photographs – you won’t regret it.

If you're lucky enough to have your grandparents in your life, or your children are lucky enough to have theirs, then you'll know that the relationship between family elders and children is something special. Grandparents get to spoil without repercussions, love without complications, and play without rushing. They've basically got it made. (I can't wait to be a grandparent one day!) Celebrating the connection between children and their important family members is such a beautiful gift to give, not only to your children, but to the entire family. To record the small details, the time spent together, and the

Colourful weekday wedding at The Grounds Alexandria

Prue and Michael were married under the stars in the stunning gardens of The Grounds of Alexandria in front of their closest family and friends. So many beautiful, creative choices were made to bring this day together, including that they had their wedding on a Thursday night, and they had their bridal and family portraits before the ceremony so that the party could kick on  uninterrupted after the ceremony - brilliant! Prue and Michael are passionate gardeners, so they were perfectly at home amongst the beautiful greenery, surrounded by their perfect flower choices. And on the night of their

Intimate mothering and breastfeeding photography

There's a few things that are indescribable in this life. One of them is the heart-swelling and utterly consuming there-is-nothing-else-in-the-world-but-you intimacy of having a newborn baby. It's the little things. The little chub rolls. The sound of your baby waking up from a nap with those little grunts and squeaks. Their little hand grasping yours while they feed. The way they stre-e-e-e-e-etch those tiny arms above their heads. The feel of their unbelievably soft skin. The sweet little milk pimples. The way they fit into the crook of your arm, as if they've always belonged there. These things can

Catholic christening at St Paul’s of the Cross

I absolutely love being here for my families when they're baptising their children. When I'm shooting baptisms and christenings, I'm in the zone - I'm on the sidelines of the action, like a formally-dressed ninja, floating in the background with my quiet shutters and silent shoes - but because I'm shooting with a variety of lenses on two camera bodies, I can be in amongst the action capturing every moment you see (and many you don't!). Christenings are a joy to capture too, there's so much beauty and sentiment and ceremony, and everything is instilled with a sense of

Wedding at the NSW State Library + Sydney Mint

Two gorgeous women. A beautiful sunny Sydney day. A walk through Hyde Park. A tear-filled ceremony in the NSW State Library. And a joyful reception at the The Mint. Hey, bibliophiles amongst us - did you know that you can get married in the NSW State Library? Neither did I! If you're a book lover like I am, there's no better place to marry the person you love - surrounded by history, family, and the amazing smell of old books. I can't even tell you how lovely this day was. This wedding contains so many elements that I absolutely love

Elopement on the Hawkesbury River

This is why I specialise in interesting weddings with fascinating people.  Because those fascinating people always have weddings that are vibrantly, wonderfully THEM. This beautiful couple flung off their original large wedding plans in favour of a gorgeously small, formal affair - they dressed in their dapper best, took their gorgeous children and legal witnesses, and tied the knot on the banks of the Hawkesbury River in the late afternoon sunshine. Walked down the aisle by her eldest son, Monique beamed at her soon-to-be husband Chris - a stunning vision in white. I was with them for less than an

Cosy autumn newborn session at home

Baby + doona + family + kisses + play + bath + dancing to the Wiggles. What more could you ask for? This gorgeous newborn session with baby Ivy was completed in Sydney's Inner West, in a small townhouse, on a cosy overcast day. Her parents wanted to capture all the little things they love about this season of life, with their two little girls. Things like cuddling up in bed all together in the early morning. Things like little baby baths, and little baby cuddles. Things like dancing in the lounge room, tickling, and taking care of big

Create a photographic record while self-isolating

Here are some tips to help you create your own photographic record, your own little time capsule, until your favourite photographer can get you all in the frame again. Look, life is a bit weird right now. Let’s all admit it. It’s the time of year when we’re all usually busy bees, celebrating the gorgeous autumn weather and madly feathering our nests for winter in all sorts of different ways - but instead, the majority of us are currently self-isolating. Life looks so different to the autumns we’re used to. Maybe we’re lonely, maybe we’re overstimulated, maybe we’re staying

Peppers Creek: Tracey and Cathy’s stunning Hunter Valley wedding

Did you know that your wedding can be whatever you want it to be? I mean that. Whatever you want. Tracey and Cathy wanted their wedding to be fun, filled with laughter, and totally them. They rode in victoriously in an amazing stretch Volkswagon Kombi to the Peppers Creek Chapel, in the Hunter Valley. They looked like a million bucks each in crisp white pantsuits, and Tracey rocked an amazing veiled hat. Their bridal party wore white and pink, including full white suits with tails, and carried sentimental items down the aisle. They had their couples portraits together before their ceremony, so that

A wonderful winery wedding in Canberra: Tash and Tim

Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular and I, for one, am stoked about it. There's nothing better than beautiful winter light, warm fires, amazing foliage and cosy wedding parties. Tash and Tim were married at Brindabella Hills Winery outside Canberra, on a beautiful sunny June afternoon, surrounded by 40 of their nearest and dearest. Brindabella Hills is an absolutely gorgeous location, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to be married in the ACT - the food was lovely, the wine divine, and the ambience sheer perfection. A quick post-ceremony photo shoot around the property with the happy couple

A beautiful mid-week elopement: documentary wedding photography at Paddington Reservoir

Tuesday. Secret lunchtime ceremony. Seven guests. The amazing hidden setting of Paddington Reservoir. A recipe for a perfect wedding.   Samantha and Scott decided to get married in the intimate presence of their few dearest friends, and their baby daughter, in the incredible underground gardens in Sydney's CBD. I mean, look at this place: it's a wonderland of columns, arches, luscious green gardens, and unbelievable light - what a backdrop for a cosy, simple, luxurious elopement! I was asked to document their day for only two hours - because when your wedding is perfectly succinct, you don't need any more than that for

A cup of tea with mum: pregnancy portraits with a beautiful twist

There's something special about a mother-daughter relationship. And there's no time when that relationship becomes more intimate and more poignant than when you're expecting a child of your own. Suddenly you begin to understand things about your mother that were hidden from you before - you begin to understand her worry, her affection, her self-sacrifice. You also begin to learn that she was just like you, wondering what lay ahead, inexperienced and nervous, but excited beyond belief. And this is why a mother-daughter documentary maternity shoot could be absolutely perfect for you. Embrace this time in your life, as well as

Newborn photos for your second child – Why they’re possibly even MORE meaningful than with your first

There are oft-repeated jokes about second children: that they are parented completely differently to their firstborn siblings. Firstborn children enjoy hand-picked purees for their first food - second children get whatever everyone else is eating chucked on their high chair tray. Firstborn babies have their naps and bowel movements agonised over - as long as second babies sleep occasionally and their nappy isn't dragging on the ground, they're good to go. Secondborn children enjoy a far more relaxed toddlerhood than their firstborn siblings did, since their parents now know that as long as everyone is alive at the end of the day, it's considered a win. Firstborn babies have their photograph
