Remember Lisa? Her maternity shoot was a completely new experience and produced some absolutely gorgeous images. Well, her beautiful baby was born and all she needed as the crowning glory of her entrance in to this world was a documentary photo shoot showing off her best sides. Imogen is the brand-new arrival of two long-time friends of mine, Simon and Bec, and I photographed her at only three weeks old, still tiny and fresh and wrinkly and completely lovely. Imogen is already so expressive and has such a serious little personality. Simon and Bec wanted a simple record of their baby's first days, with no fancy poses or styling (my favourite kind of shoot!), so I went over for a coffee and, with my camera in hand, we had a happy chat in the bedroom while they cuddled their new little girl. This shoot with Karen, David and their three gorgeous kids was so much fun. It was a miserable, rainy day, so I had some challenging lighting situations that changed moment to moment (daylight, tungsten, daylight + tungsten, daylight + tungsten + flash, reflected colours, light temperatures all over the place), so the family got comfy on the couch and in the playroom, before later venturing out into the rainy park armed with gumboots and umbrellas. On an autumn day, the Harts and I wandered through Wendy Whiteley's garden and along the harbourfront to create some casual, relaxed family portraits before the younger members scattered worldwide. The results were sun-kissed and happy.
