Unposed wedding – Eliza and Warren

I love spontaneous weddings. Eliza and Warren decided to get married while in Australia, on holiday from the UK, with a grand total of NINE WEEKS to organise an 80+ person wedding. What did they manage to pull off? Only a glorious, sunbathed, genuine, heartfelt and stunningly elegant affair. Obviously, to plan a wedding from another continent with just over two months, they are ridiculously relaxed people, and it was this happy and easygoing attitude to wedding planning that caught my attention when they enquired with me. Chilled out people, planning a chilled out simple wedding,  with all the bells and whistles

Unposed surprise wedding – Maeve and Lorenzo

Maeve and Lorenzo invited me to photograph their wonderful and unusual surprise wedding in the small town of Katoomba, in NSW's Blue Mountains. They had told all of their friends that they were meeting at Hotel Blue for themed murder mystery 40th birthday party for Lorenzo, with their guests none the wiser as to their plans. After guests drove through the thick fog and gathered in the amazing lounge for a "present reveal", Lorenzo coyly placed a flower in his buttonhole, a harpist began to play, and then out walked Maeve in an incredible floor-length gown. I can't begin to tell you

Wedding on the beach – Verity and Wazza

Beach. Teal dress. Celebratory piñata. Oh man. This wedding. Ooooooooh, this wedding. Verity and Chris (aka "Wazza") called me because they were looking for some simple, documentary wedding photography that didn't involve spending two hours away from their guests to take posed photographs. They came to the right girl. They were married at Coledale Beach on the NSW south coast, in a nice quiet spot beside the surf club with only their immediate families in attendance; they then had seventy of their nearest and dearest friends gather inside the surf Coledale Surf Club for drinks and nibbles and very light-hearted frivolity. The weather was

Wedding – Jess and Liz

I just want to lay it out for you all, since I don't want to be a vendor who is vague about the people to whom they offer services - I am absolutely and unequivocally in support of same-sex marriage. I love weddings, I love marriage, and I believe that everyone should have the right to marry the person they love. I'm an equal opportunity vendor - I serve the conservative, the liberal, the straight, the gay, the single, the disabled, the differently-abled, the young, the old, and everything in between. I'm delighted that my straight friends and clients have

Hindu Wedding – Aneetha and David

Aneetha and David got married in a wonderful Hindu ceremony in Helensburgh, Sydney, and I must say that it was a real pleasure to witness this most symbolic and intricate of nuptials. I ended up delivering them over 700 images across 4 hours of ceremony coverage - I just didn't want to miss a moment of this ceremony, rich in the symbolism of ancient scriptures and cultural traditions. There was laughter, there were tears, there were many contributors to the ceremony, and many wonderful gestures made by the couple's family and friends. So understand me when I say that this

Event shoot – Sarah and Michael’s wedding

Sarah and Michael were married on Shelly Beach in Manly, NSW, and on the nicest day September has ever seen, with a small morning ceremony and a breakfast reception at Le Kiosk, the beachside restaurant. It was fun, light, and beautiful. Sarah and Michael were relaxed and easy-going, and while they are a couple who definitely value photography and wanted nice photos of themselves, they really wanted me to spend my time capturing the moments of their family and friends instead of intensive posing sessions and awkward embraces for the camera. We were out for photos for maybe fifteen minutes,

Event shoot – Ruby’s 1st birthday party

I had the great pleasure of flying over to Perth to commemorate the first birthday of little Ruby. I've shot weddings, nightclubs, pubs, 30th birthdays, 90th birthdays, engagement parties, and everything in between - but this was my first first birthday! A big party, with lots of planning and food preparation and decoration and love poured in to it, and many family and friends and children came from near and far to gather around to help Ruby blow out her candle. Not to mention it was very, very pink. It was a fantastic day and a truly beautiful party. Ruby

Event shoot – Kristen’s 30th birthday

It's Moulin Rouge, baby! I was the photographer at this fabulous birthday party held in honour of the gorgeous Kristen. It was in a pub in Summer Hill, although you'd never know it - they decked the place out to be truly luxurious - everyone was in full costume, Toulouse Lautrec  prints were mounted, and the guests practically swam in champagne and top hats and feathers. It was amazing! A tiny sampling of the hundreds and hundreds of photographs taken follow. Happy birthday, Kristen! Your party was truly excellent and may your 31st year bring you joy, happiness, and even

My Messy Room’s fifth birthday

Summer Hill, in the inner west of Sydney, has a great village feel and a strong community spirit. As a small business owner I feel it's important to support other artists and small business entrepreneurs, so when the funky kids store My Messy Room turned five years old, it was great to see the community rallying around them and confirming their great success. Congratulations to the team - five years in business is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, your store is fantastic and full of the best goodies a kid could ever want. Can I  live with your wooden dinosaurs
