Colourful weekday wedding at The Grounds Alexandria

Prue and Michael were married under the stars in the stunning gardens of The Grounds of Alexandria in front of their closest family and friends. So many beautiful, creative choices were made to bring this day together, including that they had their wedding on a Thursday night, and they had their bridal and family portraits before the ceremony so that the party could kick on  uninterrupted after the ceremony - brilliant! Prue and Michael are passionate gardeners, so they were perfectly at home amongst the beautiful greenery, surrounded by their perfect flower choices. And on the night of their

A wonderful winery wedding in Canberra: Tash and Tim

Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular and I, for one, am stoked about it. There's nothing better than beautiful winter light, warm fires, amazing foliage and cosy wedding parties. Tash and Tim were married at Brindabella Hills Winery outside Canberra, on a beautiful sunny June afternoon, surrounded by 40 of their nearest and dearest. Brindabella Hills is an absolutely gorgeous location, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to be married in the ACT - the food was lovely, the wine divine, and the ambience sheer perfection. A quick post-ceremony photo shoot around the property with the happy couple

A beautiful mid-week elopement: documentary wedding photography at Paddington Reservoir

Tuesday. Secret lunchtime ceremony. Seven guests. The amazing hidden setting of Paddington Reservoir. A recipe for a perfect wedding.   Samantha and Scott decided to get married in the intimate presence of their few dearest friends, and their baby daughter, in the incredible underground gardens in Sydney's CBD. I mean, look at this place: it's a wonderland of columns, arches, luscious green gardens, and unbelievable light - what a backdrop for a cosy, simple, luxurious elopement! I was asked to document their day for only two hours - because when your wedding is perfectly succinct, you don't need any more than that for

Jasmin + Claudine: Wedding at Sydney Rowing Club

"And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love; cannot be killed or swept aside.... Now fill the world with music, love, and pride." The modern playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda said it best.   Guys, you know I'm a sap. I fully admit it - I'm a romance-a-holic. There's nothing I like better than to see two people so heady in deep love that they just can't keep their eyes and smiles off each other. So it should come as no surprise to you that when I was honoured to document the union of these two unbelievably beautiful women, I may or may not have cried a little behind the lens -

Prue Vickery Photography – Unconventional Wedding Locations

Weddings come in all shapes and sizes, a fact that I love to celebrate. While I’ve photographed my wonderful share of big white church weddings, I specialise in smaller, offbeat weddings that sometimes walk a little on the wild side. I just love the idea that a wedding can be so many different things, and can express a couple’s loves and tastes so uniquely. And sometimes these weddings take place in places that you’d never imagine! Here are some of the interesting wedding locations I have had the privilege of shooting. It might give you something to think about when

Unposed wedding photography – Kate and Seb in the Hunter Valley

I consider myself the luckiest girl in the world that I get to photograph the wedding of interesting people. It really is a gift - they are trusting you with the documentation of one of the most special days of their lives, and I'm especially lucky because the people I get to photograph are always special, fascinating specimens of humankind. They're always a bit different, a bit kooky, a bit more sparkly than the rest of us regular joes. And this wedding was black tie, too, which made it that extra bit unusual. Kate and Sebastian were married at the Sisters

Unposed wedding – Belinda and Tim at the Powerhouse Museum

Best. Wedding. Ever. I was honoured to be asked to document the moment that Tim and Belinda were married at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. They're both amazingly smart and accomplished people, and having an unconventional ceremony in a science museum was a perfect fit. They wanted wedding photography that was relaxed, unposed, and as clever as they are. They had a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony in the Powerhouse boardroom, then together we had a great time running around the museum, exploring exhibits they hadn't seen since they were children, laughing and dancing in the halls, and trying out as many of the

Unposed wedding – Eliza and Warren

I love spontaneous weddings. Eliza and Warren decided to get married while in Australia, on holiday from the UK, with a grand total of NINE WEEKS to organise an 80+ person wedding. What did they manage to pull off? Only a glorious, sunbathed, genuine, heartfelt and stunningly elegant affair. Obviously, to plan a wedding from another continent with just over two months, they are ridiculously relaxed people, and it was this happy and easygoing attitude to wedding planning that caught my attention when they enquired with me. Chilled out people, planning a chilled out simple wedding,  with all the bells and whistles

Wedding – Jess and Liz

I just want to lay it out for you all, since I don't want to be a vendor who is vague about the people to whom they offer services - I am absolutely and unequivocally in support of same-sex marriage. I love weddings, I love marriage, and I believe that everyone should have the right to marry the person they love. I'm an equal opportunity vendor - I serve the conservative, the liberal, the straight, the gay, the single, the disabled, the differently-abled, the young, the old, and everything in between. I'm delighted that my straight friends and clients have
